Student Ambassador Program

The mission of the Patrick Henry College Students Ambassadors is to provide current students with opportunities to represent Christ and to present a positive and realistic image of Patrick Henry College and its student life. Student Ambassadors are PHC students who desire to serve prospective students and their families by providing enthusiastic hospitality, a direct and honest perspective on PHC life, and concrete examples of the College’s mission. A largely student-run campus group, the SA’s work in close connection with the Office of Admissions and the campus visit program. They represent a cross-section of majors, class years, and home states, but their excitement for PHC is the same—and it’s contagious!

Most often, Student Ambassadors interact with prospective students and their families when they tour campus; if you’ve visited PHC, you’ve probably met a few SA’s. They serve as campus tour guides, table hosts during lunch, and evening hosts for overnight visitors. The Ambassadors are happy to talk with prospective students to share a firsthand account of why they chose PHC and what it’s like to live and study here.

Ask an Ambassador

It wasn’t too long ago that the Student Ambassadors faced the same decisions you’re making now: what to look for in a college, how to find the college that best fits your interests and God’s call on your future, and how to be confident in your decision. The SA’s are happy to serve you as you consider PHC. If you have a question or would like an SA to contact you, just email askastudent@phc.edu. If you’re scheduling a visit to campus, be sure to let the Admissions staff know if you’d like to talk with an SA who shares a specific interest: the major you’re considering, music, debate, soccer, student government, missions, and more.
The Ambassadors’ Perspective

While academic excellence and internship opportunities were certainly important factors in their college choice, most of the Ambassadors will quickly say the strong Christian community is the main reason they love PHC. This community is evident from professors who integrate their faith with their classes and take a personal interest in students’ spiritual growth, to morning chapel and Bible studies in the residence halls, to great conversations with other students over lunch, dinner, and often late into the night. Extracurricular activities, sports, and campus traditions also provide opportunities for serving others, forging rich memories, and deepening friendships with other students. Patrick Henry students are intense not only about their faith and studies, but also about having fun and making the most of their college years.

“The community here is every bit as important as the classroom. The time I’ve spent acting with Eden Troupe, planning the Liberty Ball, or just sharing a cup of coffee with a friend has made my experience all the richer. PHC isn’t just about academic excellence, but about developing you as a whole person.”
-  Meredith Schultz, Student Ambassador, Class of 2009

“The people here are what make Patrick Henry College a great place. I generally learn more outside the classroom than inside; God’s grace and love are demonstrated through the people around me every day. Sure, I’ll take a diploma with me when I graduate, but that will not be as dear to me as the memories that I will also take with me.”
